Field Technician - $17.50/hour

We have an immediate need for an hourly, Field Technician for casual work (up 40-60 hours/week - overtime paid). Work is expected to be full-time and end in November 2017. Potential for re-hire as a full-time staff in Spring 2018. This position involves extensive travel (up to 100% of the time) throughout the province of Ontario (likely in the Halton or Muskoka regions) from Monday through Friday and occasional weekends. We pay travel expenses ($35/day meal allowance and hotel paid for) and provide a vehicle (fuel costs covered). Work is conducted outdoors 100% of the time. No work is conducted in inclement weather.
As a Field Technician you would be responsible for conducting inspections and conducting repair and replacement work as required. The majority of the work involves collecting data at various outdoor locations. Data is collected with the use of various technical devices including a tablet computer. We provide training.
Technological skills working in an Android and Windows environment are required. Candidates should be detailed oriented, be able to work independently, have good problem-solving skills and good communication skills (oral, reading and writing) in the English language. Some background in geography, previous experience with Microsoft Excel and GIS or GPS technology would be an asset.
Candidates must have a valid 'G' class license. A reference check, criminal record check and satisfactory driver's abstract will be required prior to offer of employment.
